Ski Dubai is an architecting masterpiece in Dubai. It is an indoor ski resort with 22, 500 square meters of indoor ski area inside the Mall of Emirates. It is one of the largest shopping centers in the world and located at our very own Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Developed by the Majid Al Futtaim Group and designed and produced by one of the world’s leading design group – Thinkwell Group.
It opened in November 2005, the indoor resort features an 85 meter high indoor mountain with 5 slopes of varying steepness and difficulty. The indoor resort is designed with a 400 meter long run, the world’s first indoor black diamond run, and various features like boxes, rails, kickers etc, that are changed on a regular basis. Ski Dubai also houses a number of penguins who are let out of their enclosures several times a day. Penguin encounters can be booked, allowing the public to interact directly with the penguins. The true feel of the biting cold is experienced in the Middle East at Ski Dubai. You can rent out winter clothing, ski and snowboard equipment are included in the price of admission.
As a designer, one of the biggest advancements of this architectural feature is the extremely efficient insulation system which keeps the entire facility maintain a temperature of -1 degree Celsius (30 degree Fahrenheit) at night when the snow is produced.
Ski Dubai has been awarded one of the world’s most prestigious Thea Outstanding Achievement Award by the Themed Entertainment Association making it one of the world’s best theme parks.
